Fontenille-Pataud offers some tweaks to the laguiole formula. There is a stop bar in the handle, which prevents the blade from hitting the inside of the liner as it snaps closed. Also, the open blade locks into position and is unlocked by pressing the back end of the spine. A traditional laguiole does not lock.
